Culdrum Township, MN (June 22, 2026) – Two people were injured following a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 27 and County Road 1 in Morrison County on Saturday, June 20.

State authorities said that a 2018 Ford Escape was traveling southbound on Dove Road and approaching Highway 27 at about 12:33 p.m. The driver, identified as 20-year-old Lakiesha Rain Kuhl of Randall, reportedly said she did not see approaching traffic before pulling into the intersection, where her SUV struck a 2020 Mazda CX-5.

The Mazda was driven by 77-year-old Arnold Leighton Abrahamson of Browerville. He was wearing a seat belt and was taken to Little Falls Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A passenger in the Mazda, 76-year-old Joan Elizabeth Abrahamson of Browerville, also received non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the same medical facility.

Both vehicles’ airbags deployed during the collision. Kuhl was not injured. Investigators noted that road surfaces were dry at the time. The cause of the accident remains under review as investigators continue gathering information.

We wish those hurt a smooth and full recovery.

Why Intersections Are Common Sites for Serious Traffic Crashes

Intersections require drivers to monitor traffic from several directions while making decisions about speed, distance, and right-of-way. Even a brief lapse in judgment can lead to a dangerous situation when vehicles enter the same space at the same time.

Many intersection-related crashes occur when a driver misjudges the speed of an approaching vehicle or fails to notice traffic before proceeding. Visibility issues, distractions, and unfamiliar road layouts can also contribute. Safety features such as seat belts and airbags often help reduce the severity of injuries, but they cannot prevent every injury when vehicles collide at roadway crossings.

Drivers can lower risk by approaching intersections cautiously, checking for traffic multiple times before entering, and allowing extra time when visibility is limited. Maintaining awareness of surrounding vehicles remains one of the most effective ways to help prevent these types of roadway collisions.
