Exeter, MO (August 27, 2026) – Three men were hurt on Wednesday morning, August 26, after a Toyota Camry crossed the center line on Hwy 76 near Exeter in Barry County.

The crash occurred around 6:30 a.m. at Hwy 76 and Farm Rd 1040, about one mile west of Exeter. The 2005 Toyota Camry was traveling eastbound when it crossed the center line, overcorrected, left the right side of the road, and struck the ditch.

A 33-year-old passenger suffered serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to Freeman Health System in Bentonville, Arkansas. All three men were listed as wearing safety devices.

The Camry sustained total damage and was towed from the site. The investigation into the cause of the wreck remains underway.

Our thoughts are with the injured men and their loved ones during their recovery.

What Should Drivers Know About Crashes Involving a Vehicle Leaving the Road?

When a vehicle leaves its lane and travels off the road, several factors can affect the outcome. Crossing the center line can place a vehicle in the path of approaching traffic, while sudden steering corrections may make it harder to regain control.

Seat belts can help reduce the risk of serious injury when a vehicle leaves the roadway or strikes a fixed object. Passengers should remain properly restrained whenever the vehicle is moving. Road conditions, vehicle damage, and the vehicle’s position after a wreck can also provide useful information about what happened.

People involved in a roadway accident may need to keep records of medical treatment, vehicle repairs, photographs, and other expenses. These records can help document the physical and financial effects that follow a serious roadway accident.
