Shreveport, LA (June 27, 2026) – Two drivers were killed in a head-on collision on Louisiana Highway 175 near Scott Road on Thursday morning. Rescue units responded to the area around 5:20 a.m. on June 25 after receiving reports of a serious two-vehicle crash.
According to Louisiana State Police Troop G, a northbound vehicle driven by 49-year-old Carlos Helm and a southbound vehicle driven by 39-year-old Alonzo Thompkins collided head-on for reasons still under investigation. Investigators said Helm’s vehicle crossed the centerline before striking Thompkins’ car.
Both drivers sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency crews secured the scene while investigators documented roadway evidence and cleared debris from the highway.
