Twin Falls, ID (July 26, 2026) – Two California men lost their lives on July 24 after two semi-trucks collided head-on along US-93 in Twin Falls County.

The fatal crash happened shortly before 4:30 a.m. near mile marker 14.3. Investigators said a 33-year-old man from San Carlos was driving a Freightliner southbound when the truck crossed the center line and struck another Freightliner driven by a 60-year-old man from Sacramento.

Both drivers died at the roadside from their injuries. The second driver was wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision. The names of the two men have not yet been released.

The cause of the crash remains under review as investigators continue gathering information.

Our heartfelt thoughts are with the families and friends mourning this tragic loss.

Why Head-on Semi-Truck Collisions Are Usually So Severe

Head-on crashes involving large commercial trucks are among the most serious types of roadway collisions because of the tremendous force generated when two heavy vehicles meet head-on. Even at moderate highway speeds, the combined energy can lead to catastrophic damage and greatly reduce the chances of survival for those involved.

Investigators reviewing these cases usually examine factors such as lane position, driver alertness, weather, roadway design, visibility, vehicle maintenance records, and mechanical performance. Data from onboard electronic logging systems and other equipment may also help establish what occurred in the moments before the trucks came together. Reviewing these details can provide a clearer picture of how the collision unfolded and may help improve highway safety through future recommendations.
