Rathdrum, ID (July 26, 2026) – A serious collision blocked both lanes of State Highway 53 west of Rathdrum near Greensferry Road on July 24, causing significant traffic delays. Emergency units remained at the roadway while crews investigated the incident and cleared the highway.
The Idaho Transportation Department advised drivers to avoid the affected stretch of SH-53 and use alternate routes during the morning commute. Traffic was expected to remain delayed while the roadway stayed closed.
The extent of any injuries has not been confirmed, and officials have not released information about the number of vehicles involved.
