How Are Personal Watercraft Collisions Are Investigated?
Following a personal watercraft collision, investigators examine several factors to determine how the incident occurred. The positions and movements of the watercraft, operator actions, visibility, weather conditions, and water conditions are commonly reviewed. Physical damage to the vessels and witness statements can also help establish the sequence of events.
Investigators may also review operator experience, compliance with boating safety regulations, and any available photographs or video recordings from the scene. These findings are evaluated together to develop a clearer understanding of the circumstances surrounding the collision and identify any contributing factors.
