Huntingtown, MD (August 15, 2026) – Four Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department members were hurt on Friday morning when an ambulance went off the roadway and crashed on northbound Route 4 near Calverton School Road. The crash occurred at approximately 10 a.m. on August 14.
According to the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the area and found Ambulance 68 involved in the crash. All four HVFD members were taken for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Two of the injured members were flown to MedStar by Maryland State Police Aviation, while a third was taken by ground to MedStar. A fourth person was transported to CalvertHealth for treatment.
Earlier emergency information indicated that two of the injured EMS members were 16-year-old girls who suffered head injuries. The crash remains under investigation as officials work to determine what happened.
