Augusta, GA (July 6, 2026) – An 86-year-old Augusta woman died after a two-vehicle collision at Walton Way and 7th Street on Saturday, July 4. The wreck was reported at about 9:50 p.m.
A preliminary report said one vehicle was traveling west on Walton Way and attempted to turn left onto 7th Street. That vehicle entered the path of an eastbound vehicle going through the intersection, and the two vehicles collided.
The woman was identified as Carolyn Fletcher, 86, of Augusta. She was a passenger in the eastbound vehicle and was brought to Wellstar MCG Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 10:41 p.m. The accident remains under review as investigators continue working to confirm the full details.
