Fairfield, CA (January 2, 2026) – A multi-lane closure on eastbound Interstate 80 in Fairfield followed a traffic collision on Thursday afternoon that left several people with minor injuries, according to officials.
The crash took place around 4:53 p.m. just west of Travis Blvd, impacting lanes 3 through 5 on the eastbound side of I-80. California Highway Patrol responded swiftly and issued a traffic alert as crews worked to manage the scene and address injuries.
Units from the Fairfield Fire Department confirmed that at least one person sustained minor injuries in the incident. Paramedics provided treatment on-site before clearing the affected area. The full number of vehicles involved has not yet been confirmed.
Traffic in the area was significantly backed up while authorities conducted cleanup and investigation efforts. CHP estimated the affected lanes would reopen within 30 minutes of the alert.
