Newport News, VA (May 2, 2026) – A vehicle crash Saturday afternoon caused significant traffic disruptions and left one person injured in Newport News.
According to the Virginia Department of Transportation, the crash occurred around 1:43 p.m. on Interstate 64 westbound near mile marker 256.4, close to Jefferson Avenue. The incident led to widespread lane closures, including the left shoulder and multiple travel lanes, resulting in delays for motorists in the area.
Emergency responders arrived on scene and treated at least one individual who sustained serious injuries. The injured person was transported to a nearby hospital for further care.
Crews worked to manage traffic and clear the scene as authorities investigated the cause of the crash. Motorists were advised to expect delays and use caution while traveling through the area.
The incident remains under investigation.
