West Covina, CA (January 2, 2026) – A fatal crash on Interstate 10 in West Covina claimed the life of one person on Thursday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The deadly collision occurred around 6:30 p.m. on the westbound side of the freeway near Sunset Ave. CHP officials reported that a dark-colored sedan, possibly a Kia, lost control while traveling westbound, striking another vehicle before crashing into the center divider. The sedan eventually came to a stop on the freeway shoulder.
Emergency personnel arrived to find one occupant of the sedan unresponsive. The individual was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity, pending family notification.
The condition of the second driver involved in the crash has not been made public, and the exact cause of the incident remains under investigation.
