Elgin, IL (January 10, 2026) – A serious traffic collision occurred Friday afternoon near South State St and Redfield Rd in Elgin, leaving three individuals injured and prompting a large emergency response.
The incident unfolded around 4:17 p.m. in a busy corridor situated between Walnut Ave, National St, and Ashburn St. Engine Six arrived at the scene and quickly began assessing three patients with varying injuries. The severity of the crash required multiple ambulances to respond to the scene for patient transport and support.
Paramedics rendered aid to all three individuals, two of whom initially accepted medical transport. The third later chose to be taken to the hospital as well, prompting the request for a third ambulance. Emergency responders coordinated care from a nearby gas station parking lot, which was used as a staging area for arriving units.
Crews officially established “State Street Command” to manage the incident as resources from Elgin Fire and medical services worked together to provide care and manage the crash site. The extent of vehicle damage and the number of cars involved have not been released at this time.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the events that led up to the crash, and no contributing factors have yet been confirmed.
