Jasper, MO (January 12, 2026) – A serious two-vehicle collision took place on Sunday afternoon along Zora Rd, about one mile north of Joplin, leaving one person injured and both vehicles heavily damaged.
According to Troop D of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident was reported at approximately 4:00 p.m. and involved a 2013 Ford Escape traveling southbound and a 2016 Lincoln MKZ headed west. The crash occurred when the Lincoln reportedly failed to stop at a stop sign and was struck by the oncoming Ford.
The driver of the Ford, a 43-year-old woman from Joplin, sustained injuries and was transported by a private party to Mercy Hospital in Joplin for medical attention. Authorities confirmed she was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the impact. Her vehicle was totaled and was removed from the scene by Metro Towing.
The Lincoln, driven by a 76-year-old woman also from Joplin, suffered extensive damage. However, she was not reported as injured and was able to arrange for the vehicle to be removed privately.
Troopers conducted a thorough on-scene investigation, with support from local responders. Early findings confirm that a failure to stop at the posted intersection was the primary contributing factor to the collision.
Our thoughts are with those involved, and we hope for a smooth and swift recovery for the injured driver.
