Lawrence Co, MO (January 18, 2026) – A motorcycle rider sustained serious injuries following a collision involving a semi-truck on Friday afternoon on Interstate 44, approximately five miles east of Mt. Vernon.
Authorities say the accident occurred around 12:35 p.m. on January 16 in the eastbound lanes of I-44. According to investigators, a 2024 Honda CBR650 motorcycle collided with a 2023 Kenworth T680 tractor-trailer. The impact caused the motorcycle to veer off the roadway and overturn, leading to significant injuries for the rider.
The motorcyclist, a 30-year-old man from Aurora, was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. He sustained serious injuries and was transported by EMS to Mercy Springfield for treatment. The truck driver, a 48-year-old man from Springfield, was not injured and was able to drive his vehicle from the scene.
Missouri State Highway Patrol, along with CPL. A. Enderle and TPR. J. Blinkinsop, assisted at the crash site. The motorcycle was totaled and removed by Bielliers Towing. The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.
