Pacific Beach, CA (January 19, 2026) – A 6-year-old boy tragically lost his life in a heartbreaking hit-and-run accident Saturday afternoon in the Pacific Beach neighborhood, according to the San Diego Police Department.
The collision occurred around 3:45 p.m. in the 1500 block of Pacific Beach Dr, near Ingraham St. Authorities reported that the young boy was riding a bike and attempting to cross an alley when he was struck by a vehicle passing through. Witnesses stated that the driver initially stopped but then proceeded to strike the boy again while fleeing the scene.
San Diego police and firefighters responded quickly, and the child was rushed to a nearby hospital. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead a short time later. His identity has not yet been released.
Investigators identified the suspect as a 32-year-old woman who fled the crash site. Her vehicle was later found in National City, and she was taken into custody by law enforcement.
The area was cordoned off for several hours as officers gathered evidence and spoke to witnesses. The incident remains under active investigation.
