Holly Springs, MS (January 19, 2026) – A tragic plane crash near the Holly Springs-Marshall County Airport claimed the lives of two individuals on Sunday evening, according to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office.
At approximately 5:00 p.m., deputies and emergency crews were dispatched to a wooded area near Greer Road following reports of a downed aircraft. Upon arrival, responders discovered a small plane fully engulfed in flames east of the runway, near the southern edge of the airport.
Multiple fire departments quickly mobilized to the scene and worked to extinguish the blaze. Despite their efforts, both individuals aboard the aircraft were pronounced dead at the scene.
The aircraft reportedly went down in a heavily wooded area, complicating both access and suppression efforts. Officials have not yet released the identities of the victims, pending notification of next of kin.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Federal aviation authorities are expected to assist in determining what led to the fatal incident.
