Chesapeake, VA (January 21, 2026) – A two-vehicle crash early on Wednesday morning at the intersection of Great Bridge Blvd and Helmsdale Way resulted in at least one injury and required emergency extrication, according to dispatch reports.
The incident occurred around 4:50 a.m. and involved a smaller passenger vehicle and a larger truck. Emergency crews from Engine 2 and Medic 2 arrived at the scene and found one individual trapped inside the smaller vehicle. Rescue teams worked swiftly to extricate the person while the driver of the larger truck was reportedly uninjured.
Paramedics treated the injured individual on site and transported them to a local hospital for further evaluation. The exact condition of the patient has not been released.
The scene was secured without the need for additional units, and the intersection was later cleared. Chesapeake authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
