Barton Co, MO (January 23, 2026) – A truck driver sustained injuries on Thursday morning after swerving to avoid a tractor-trailer and overturning on MO-126 at Interstate 49, roughly four miles south of Lamar, according to reports from Troop D of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 11:00 a.m. when a 1993 International 8000 was traveling westbound on MO-126. According to authorities, the truck driver, a 48-year-old man from Lamar, attempted to avoid a northbound tractor-trailer that entered his path. While maneuvering to prevent a collision, his vehicle overturned, resulting in extensive damage.
The tractor-trailer reportedly left the scene traveling north on I-49 and has not yet been identified. The injured driver of the International truck reported injuries and indicated he would seek medical treatment independently at the Cox Lamar Clinic.
Emergency crews towed the damaged vehicle from the roadway, and the incident remains under investigation. Authorities have not yet released additional information about the second vehicle or its driver.
