Oxnard, CA (January 23, 2026) – A 23-year-old man lost his life Wednesday evening following a tragic bicycle accident involving a vehicle along Wooley Road, according to reports from the Oxnard Police Department.
The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. on January 21 at the intersection of Wooley Rd and Industrial Ave. Authorities say the collision happened when a 79-year-old Oxnard woman driving a 2008 Toyota Highlander eastbound on Wooley Rd struck a bicyclist who was traveling ahead of her in the same direction.
The impact threw the bicyclist onto the pavement, prompting a swift emergency response. Firefighters, paramedics, and Oxnard police officers arrived soon after to render aid. The bicyclist, found in the roadway with major injuries, was transported to a nearby hospital but was later pronounced dead. His identity is being withheld pending notification of family members.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated fully with investigators. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether impairment was a contributing factor in the crash.
This fatal accident remains under investigation by the Oxnard Police Department’s traffic unit.
