Texas, MO (January 25, 2026) – A dramatic pursuit incident late on Friday night ended in a collision that left one driver injured on private property near Green St in Licking, Texas County, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.
The events unfolded on January 23 at approximately 10:32 p.m. when a 1998 Lincoln Town Car, driven by a 44-year-old Houston man, was being actively pursued by a 2016 Ford Explorer with emergency lights and sirens engaged. The pursuit came to a head when the Lincoln lost control, spun 180 degrees, and accelerated directly toward the Explorer, which was either stopped or nearly stopped at the time. The impact forced the Explorer into a stack of pallets before both vehicles came to rest.
Both vehicles were severely damaged in the collision. The Explorer sustained extensive damage, and the Lincoln had moderate damage. Jay’s Towing responded to the scene at the request of the Texas County Sheriff’s Deputy to remove both vehicles.
The driver of the Explorer, a 37-year-old man from Houston, MO, was injured in the crash and taken via private vehicle to Texas County Memorial Hospital. He had been wearing a seatbelt at the time. No injuries were reported for the driver of the Lincoln, who was not using a safety device during the incident.
CPL J.R. Sellars of Troop G is overseeing the investigation. Officials are working to determine the circumstances leading up to the pursuit and subsequent collision, including any possible charges.
Our thoughts are with the injured individual as they recover from this high-risk incident.
