Fruita, CO (January 28, 2026) – A two-vehicle crash involving a rollover shut down a portion of Highway 6 & 50 near 20 Rd on the afternoon of January 27. The crash drew response from both the Colorado State Patrol and the Lower Valley Fire Department and led to temporary road closures in the area.
According to officials, the incident occurred when the driver of a 1997 Chevrolet pickup lost control, causing the vehicle to roll and collide with a 2020 GMC Sierra. The driver of the Chevrolet was identified as a 76-year-old man, while the GMC was driven by a 63-year-old man.
Despite the severity of the crash and the rollover, authorities reported that non-life threatening injuries were sustained. Emergency crews evaluated those involved at the scene and managed traffic control while debris was cleared.
The crash caused a full closure of Highway 6 & 50 near 20 Rd for a period of time, but the roadway was reopened by 4:39 p.m. The cause of the crash is still under review by the Colorado State Patrol.
