How Roadside Equipment Can Be Involved in Traffic Accidents
Equipment such as riding mowers is sometimes used along road shoulders for maintenance or transport between nearby areas. These vehicles typically move at slower speeds and may be less visible to passing drivers, especially on rural roads with limited space.
When a standard vehicle leaves its lane, even briefly, it can create dangerous conditions for anything traveling nearby. Shoulder areas are not always designed for regular traffic, which can increase the risk when unexpected movement occurs.
Factors like road design, driver attention, and visibility can influence how these incidents happen. In situations involving smaller equipment, the difference in size and speed often leads to more severe outcomes during a collision.
