Rapides Parish, LA (January 30, 2026) – A two-vehicle crash on LA Hwy 1 near Tyler Rd claimed the life of 44-year-old Latrice Y. Robinson of Marksville on January 28. The collision, which occurred just before 11 a.m., also left two others injured and is now under investigation by Louisiana State Police Troop E.
According to the preliminary report, Robinson was driving a 2015 Ford Focus southbound on LA Hwy 1 when, for reasons still being investigated, she attempted to pass multiple vehicles in a no-passing area. During the maneuver, her vehicle crossed into the northbound lane and collided head-on with a 2016 Infiniti QX8.
Robinson, who was properly restrained at the time of the crash, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by first responders. The driver and passenger of the Infiniti, both of whom were also restrained, suffered moderate injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Routine toxicology samples were collected from both drivers and will be analyzed as part of the ongoing investigation. Authorities have not yet determined whether distraction, speed, or impairment played a role.
Louisiana State Police continue to emphasize the dangers of inattentive driving and the devastating consequences that can follow even brief lapses in judgment on the road.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Latrice Robinson and wish a swift recovery to those injured in this tragic accident.
