Big Bear City, CA (February 1, 2026) – A pedestrian sustained serious injuries Saturday morning after being struck in a hit-and-run crash at the intersection of State Route 38 and Division Drive. The incident occurred around 10:00 a.m. on January 31 and prompted an emergency medical response and multi-agency investigation.
Emergency responders from local fire and law enforcement units arrived at the scene shortly after 10:00 a.m., where they located a male pedestrian lying on the roadside dirt area, visibly injured and signaling for help. Witnesses at the scene reported the pedestrian was struck by a white pickup truck that fled the area before authorities arrived.
Paramedics provided immediate medical aid before transporting the victim to Loma Linda University Medical Center with significant injuries, including a reported open right hip fracture and a laceration to the left ankle.
As the investigation progressed, authorities worked to identify the suspect involved. A possible match was found in law enforcement databases, linking a suspect to prior incidents including an embezzlement report and a civil disturbance. Multiple law enforcement agencies—including the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office, Beaumont Police Department, and CHP—were contacted to assist in locating the individual.
The suspect vehicle had not yet been located as of the latest update, and the investigation remains active. Authorities are working to confirm the identity of the driver and determine the events that led to the pedestrian being struck.
