Marion Township, OH (February 3, 2026) – A serious accident involving a passenger vehicle and a commercial semi-truck claimed one life early Sunday morning in Fayette County. The accident occurred around 4:20 a.m. on Sunday, February 1, along US Route 62 near mile marker 20 in Marion Township.
Information provided by the Ohio State Highway Patrol indicates that a 2024 Hyundai Sonata was traveling southwest on US Route 62 when it crossed the center line for reasons still being investigated. The vehicle then collided head-on with a 2024 Kenworth tractor-trailer that was traveling in the opposite direction.
The Hyundai was driven by 25-year-old Jaymon T. Flaugher of Washington Court House. He and his front-seat passenger, 24-year-old Livia Sheppard, were transported to Grant Medical Center in Columbus for medical treatment. Despite lifesaving efforts, Sheppard was later pronounced deceased at the hospital. Flaugher sustained serious injuries in the collision.
The semi-truck was operated by 65-year-old Paul Stratham of Auburn, Georgia, who was not reported to have suffered serious injuries. The accident remains under active investigation.
