Rollover Crashes on Rural Highways
Rollover crashes can happen when a vehicle leaves its lane, hits a roadside edge, or loses stability during a sudden movement. Rural highways may add risks because speeds can be higher and shoulders may be narrow or uneven.
People inside a rollover crash may still need medical checks, even when life-threatening injuries are not first reported. The force of the crash can cause pain or hidden injuries that may not be clear right away.
Road design, vehicle position, tire marks, and weather conditions can help explain how a rollover happened. Seat belt use and vehicle damage may also affect the severity of injuries in this type of accident.
