What Factors Can Lead to Crashes at Intersections During Emergency Responses?
Intersections are one of the most common places for crashes, especially when vehicles approach from different directions at the same time. When emergency vehicles are involved, the risk can increase due to higher speeds and urgent response conditions.
Drivers may have difficulty reacting quickly when they hear sirens or see flashing lights. Some may stop suddenly, while others may not notice the approaching vehicle right away. These mixed reactions can create confusion in busy areas.
Road layout and visibility also affect how safely vehicles move through intersections. Buildings, traffic signals, and other cars can block sightlines. Even with warning signals active, timing and coordination between drivers remain key to reducing collision risk.
