How Are Fatal Injuries from Highway Crashes Determined?
When a person dies after a crash, a medical examiner reviews the injuries and medical records. Blunt force injuries are common in serious vehicle collisions and can affect the head, chest, or other vital areas.
Highway crashes often involve higher speeds, which can increase the force of impact. Even with modern safety features, severe trauma may occur depending on the angle of collision and vehicle damage.
In some cases, a person may receive hospital care for days before passing away. Medical findings help determine both the cause and manner of death, providing an official record of what led to the fatal outcome.
