Gentry, MO (February 26, 2026) – Three men were injured on Thursday morning, February 26, in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 169 near the King City limits in Gentry County. The collision involved a northbound 2018 Ford F-150 and a southbound 2011 GMC Sierra carrying a 56-year-old male passenger.
The crash occurred when the Ford crossed the center line, striking the GMC head-on in the southbound lane. Both vehicles came to rest on their wheels in the southbound lane. Emergency units responded and transported all three men to Mosaic Life Care. The 28-year-old Ford driver sustained serious injuries, the 26-year-old GMC driver sustained moderate injuries, and the 56-year-old GMC passenger suffered serious injuries. None of the occupants was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as they become available. We are thinking of those injured as they receive medical care.
Why Head-on Crashes Often Result in Serious Injuries
Head-on collisions are among the most dangerous types of crashes because the combined speed of the two vehicles dramatically increases the impact force. Even moderate-speed crashes can cause significant injuries, especially when occupants are not restrained.
Vehicles that cross the center line or fail to maintain lane position create high-risk situations. Larger trucks may withstand impact better, but smaller vehicles and unbelted passengers face a higher risk of serious injury. Proper use of seat belts helps reduce the likelihood of being thrown inside the vehicle or ejected, thereby significantly lowering injury severity in these types of crashes.
