Why Semi-Truck Collisions Can Be Especially Dangerous
Crashes involving large commercial trucks often result in serious consequences due to the size and weight of the vehicles. Even minor impacts can cause significant damage to other vehicles and increase the risk of injury for drivers and passengers.
Truck drivers have longer stopping distances than smaller vehicles. This means sudden maneuvers or changes in traffic can be difficult to react to in time. Highway conditions, vehicle speed, and weather can also affect how safely trucks operate on the road.
When two trucks collide, the combination of momentum and mass can amplify the force of impact, increasing the likelihood of injury. Emergency responders must often take extra precautions to secure the scene and safely extricate any injured drivers.
