Why Pedestrian Crashes Can Occur in Work Zones
Areas with multiple access points near Portage Avenue and Leland Avenue can complicate traffic movement. When work vehicles, equipment, and passing traffic share the same space, drivers and workers must remain alert.
People working near roadways may move around trucks, tools, or materials while completing tasks. Passing drivers may not always expect workers in these areas, which can increase the risk of a crash.
Work zones often include warning signs or temporary traffic adjustments meant to slow drivers and increase visibility. Staying aware of surroundings and reducing speed can help lower the chances of a pedestrian collision in active work areas.
