Why Motorcycle and SUV Crashes Often Lead to Severe Injuries
Urban roads like East Bloomfield Street often carry a mix of motorcycles, passenger vehicles, and larger SUVs. When a motorcycle collides with a larger vehicle, the rider has little protection from the force of the impact.
SUVs are heavier and sit higher than motorcycles, which can increase the severity of damage during a crash. The difference in size and structure between the two vehicles can create powerful impact forces.
Motorcyclists are also more exposed because they are not surrounded by a protective frame. In collisions with larger vehicles, riders may be thrown from the motorcycle or suffer direct impact with the vehicle or roadway.
