How Freeway Multi-Vehicle Crashes Can Lead to Serious Injuries
Accidents involving multiple vehicles on freeways often happen when drivers cannot react in time to slowing or stopped traffic ahead. High speeds and close following distances increase the risk of collisions.
Overturned vehicles are particularly dangerous because occupants may be thrown inside the cabin or against interior surfaces, increasing the likelihood of serious injuries.
Emergency responders must quickly secure the scene, provide medical care, and remove vehicles to prevent further accidents. The involvement of work or government vehicles, like DOT trucks, can complicate cleanup and traffic management on busy highways.
