Fort Wayne, IN (March 13, 2026) – One person was seriously injured after a two-vehicle crash Friday morning, March 13, near the intersection of West Jefferson Boulevard and Getz Road in Fort Wayne.
Emergency units responded to the scene around 7:25 a.m. after reports of a collision involving two vehicles. Investigators said one vehicle was traveling west on West Jefferson Boulevard while another was heading east.
According to preliminary information, the eastbound vehicle attempted to turn left onto Getz Road when the vehicles collided. Officials said it is not yet known which driver had the right of way at the time of the crash.

Authorities did not immediately release details about the other driver’s condition. A portion of southbound Getz Road near Covington Road was temporarily closed while crews cleared the scene.
The crash remains under investigation. Our thoughts remain with those injured as they recover.
Why Left-Turn Collisions Are Common at Busy Intersections
Intersections such as West Jefferson Boulevard and Getz Road often involve drivers traveling in opposite directions, while others prepare to turn across traffic. These turning movements can create conflict points where vehicles cross each other’s paths.
Left turns are especially challenging because drivers must judge the speed and distance of approaching vehicles. If a driver misjudges that gap or if traffic conditions change quickly, a collision can occur before either driver can react.
Busy commercial areas may also add complexity to intersections. Vehicles entering parking lots, changing lanes, or slowing for nearby businesses can create sudden traffic changes that increase the chance of a crash.
