San Diego, CA (March 16, 2026) – Three people, including a young child, were hurt in a house fire on Sunday afternoon, March 15, in the Mount Hope neighborhood of San Diego.
Emergency units were dispatched shortly before 4:30 p.m. to a home in the 400 block of Carlos Street after reports of a two-alarm structure fire. Crews arriving at the scene found an active fire at the residence and began working to control the flames.
Authorities said an adult man suffered severe burns across much of his body and was reported to have life-threatening injuries. An adult woman also suffered serious burn wounds, while a 2-year-old child was hurt with burns to the face. Officials reported that the woman and child’s injuries were not considered life-threatening. All three victims were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment following the fire. Crews were able to extinguish the blaze in about 20 minutes after arriving at the scene.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and further details may be released as officials continue reviewing the incident.
