Understanding Hit-and-Run Crashes Involving Pedestrians
Hit-and-run crashes involving pedestrians are especially dangerous because the injured person may not receive immediate help. High-traffic roads, limited lighting, and fast-moving vehicles increase the severity of these incidents.
Emergency responders focus on quickly assessing injuries and securing the scene, while investigators work to identify and locate the fleeing driver. Evidence from the roadway, vehicle damage, and witness accounts is all crucial in reconstructing the event.
Pedestrians are at high risk on busy streets, and collisions can result in life-threatening injuries even at moderate speeds. Witness reports and video footage often play a key role in bringing drivers who flee the scene to justice.
