Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available. We extend our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased.
What Role Do Weather Conditions Play in Highway Crashes?
Snow, hail, and other winter conditions can significantly reduce tire traction on highways. When roads become slick, vehicles may lose stability even at moderate speeds.
Reduced visibility during storms can also make it harder for drivers to see curves, road edges, or changes in elevation. This increases the risk of unintentionally leaving the roadway.
Speed often becomes more dangerous in these conditions because stopping distance increases on icy or wet surfaces. When combined with limited control, this can lead to vehicles sliding off the road or striking roadside objects.
