Miami Co., KS (March 19, 2026) – A fatal two-vehicle crash on Thursday, March 18, at the intersection of 231st Street and Waverly Road in Miami County left one man dead and another seriously injured.
Emergency units were dispatched to the scene around 9:50 a.m. after the collision was reported. Investigators said a Ram 1500 pickup failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a Chevrolet Cruze traveling through the intersection.

The crash remains under investigation.
We extend our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased victim.
What Risks Are Linked to Stop Sign Violations at Intersections?
Intersections such as 231st Street and Waverly Road can create risk due to turning movements and vehicles crossing paths. When injury accidents are reported in Miami County, crews often work to stabilize traffic flow.
Failing to stop at a posted sign can lead to severe crashes, especially when one vehicle is moving at a higher speed. These types of collisions often occur with little warning, leaving drivers with limited time to react.
Rural intersections may not have signals or additional controls, which makes driver attention even more important. Clear visibility and proper stopping behavior can help reduce the chance of serious accidents in these areas.
