Camp Springs, MD (March 22, 2026) – Two state troopers were hurt early Sunday morning, March 22, after a crash involving a suspected impaired driver on northbound Branch Avenue near Allentown Road in Prince George’s County.
The incident happened shortly before 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 22, when emergency units responded to reports of a collision involving two patrol vehicles. Investigators said one marked patrol car was stopped behind an unoccupied vehicle in the left lane, while a second patrol vehicle was parked behind it with emergency lights on.
A Maserati driven by 31-year-old Avery Alexander Bost struck the rear of the second patrol vehicle. The impact pushed the vehicle forward, hitting a trooper who was outside and then crashing into the first patrol unit. Both troopers were taken to a nearby hospital and later released.
Bost faces charges related to suspected impaired driving and other traffic offenses. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available.
Our thoughts are with those injured as they recover.
What Factors Are Looked at in Suspected Impaired Driving Crashes?
In crashes involving possible impaired driving, several details are often reviewed to piece together what happened. These may include the driver’s condition at the time, such as signs of alcohol or drug use, along with any test results collected after the incident.
Road conditions and visibility can also be considered, especially during early morning hours when traffic is lighter, but lighting may be limited. The position of vehicles, use of hazard lights, and whether cars were stopped or moving can help show how the collision unfolded.
Vehicle damage patterns are another key part of the review. They can help explain the sequence of impacts and how force was transferred between vehicles or people at the scene.
