Fresno Co., CA (March 27, 2026) – A 24-year-old man lost his life following a three-vehicle crash at an intersection south of Parlier.
The collision occurred just before 7 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25, at the intersection of Zediker Ave and Dinuba Ave in Fresno County. According to early reports, a black Hyundai was traveling east on Dinuba Ave when the driver failed to stop at a stop sign.
The Hyundai collided with a Nissan truck entering the intersection. The force of the crash also pushed the Hyundai into a third vehicle that had been waiting nearby. The impact then caused the Hyundai to leave the roadway and enter a nearby orchard.
The driver of the Hyundai, identified as 24-year-old Nathan Lopez of Reedley, suffered fatal injuries in the crash. No additional injury details regarding the other drivers were immediately released.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available.
Our condolences go out to the victim’s loved ones.
How Intersection Crashes Often Occur on Rural Roads
Intersections in rural areas often rely on stop signs rather than traffic signals to control vehicle movement. Drivers approaching these crossings must slow down and check for cross traffic before entering the intersection.
When a driver fails to stop or misjudges approaching traffic, the risk of a side-impact crash increases. These collisions can happen quickly because vehicles traveling on the main road may not have time to brake.
Rural intersections may also include additional hazards. Limited lighting in early morning hours, surrounding farmland, and open roadside areas can affect visibility. After a crash, vehicles may leave the roadway or strike nearby objects such as trees, fences, or fields, depending on the impact force.
Careful attention to stop signs and scanning for cross traffic can help reduce the risk of serious intersection crashes.
