What Factors Can Influence Early Morning City Crashes?
Mixed-use streets like 24th Street and St Mary’s Avenue often see varying traffic levels throughout the day. In Omaha, early morning hours can bring lighter traffic, which sometimes leads to higher speeds and reduced caution among drivers.
Low visibility before sunrise can make it harder to spot other vehicles or obstacles in time. Street lighting and surrounding buildings may also affect how clearly drivers can see intersections and approaching traffic.
Fatigue can also play a part during early hours. Drivers may be less alert, especially if they are commuting after little rest or finishing overnight activities. These combined conditions can increase the chances of crashes, even when roads appear less busy.
