Multi-vehicle pedestrian crashes often happen in low-visibility conditions
Crashes involving pedestrians and multiple vehicles are especially dangerous and often occur in the early morning or at night, when visibility is reduced.
On high-speed roadways like interstates, drivers have limited time to react to unexpected obstacles, such as a pedestrian in travel lanes. Once an initial impact occurs, it can be difficult for following drivers to avoid additional collisions.
These types of incidents highlight the importance of visibility, awareness, and avoiding pedestrian presence on highways whenever possible to reduce the risk of tragic outcomes.
