How Rear-End Collisions Involving Large Trucks Can Escalate
Rear-end crashes involving large trucks can quickly involve multiple vehicles due to the impact force. When a heavy truck strikes a smaller vehicle, it can push the smaller vehicle forward into others, triggering a chain reaction.
Highways are especially prone to these incidents because vehicles often travel at higher speeds and maintain closer spacing. A sudden slowdown or lack of reaction time can lead to a crash.
The size and weight of commercial trucks can increase the level of damage in these situations. Smaller vehicles may absorb most of the force, leading to more serious injuries for those inside.
Lane closures are common after these crashes to allow crews to assist victims and clear debris. These measures help restore safe driving conditions once the scene is managed.
