Cobb Co., GA (April 3, 2026) – Two people died after a multi-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck on Friday morning, April 3, along Interstate 75 northbound in Acworth.
The crash occurred around 8:45 a.m. near the Wade Green Road and Hickory Grove Road exits. Authorities reported that a tractor-trailer traveling in the right lane failed to maintain its lane and struck another semi traveling beside it.
The impact led to a chain-reaction crash involving a pickup truck towing a flatbed trailer. Officials said the pickup then struck the rear of one of the tractor-trailers and was forced across multiple lanes.
The tractor-trailer continued out of control, overturned, and crashed into a sound barrier wall along the shoulder. The driver, identified as 28-year-old Zory Beavers of Conyers, and a passenger, 42-year-old Royan Osborne of Norcross, were both pronounced dead at the scene.
The other drivers involved were not injured. Emergency units remained on scene for several hours as lanes were shut down and traffic was diverted before reopening later in the day.
The crash remains under investigation.
We extend our sincere condolences to the families and friends of the deceased victims during this difficult time.
What Factors Can Lead to Chain-Reaction Crashes on Highways?
Routes carrying regional traffic near Interstate 75 can experience delays after accidents. Crews in Cobb County prioritize clearing hazards and restoring safe travel conditions.
Chain-reaction crashes often begin with a single impact that disrupts traffic flow. When vehicles are traveling close together, one collision can quickly involve others nearby.
Large vehicles like tractor-trailers can add complexity due to their size and stopping distance. Loss of control or sudden lane changes may affect multiple lanes, increasing the severity and spread of a crash.
