Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available.
We extend our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased.
How Roadside Work Zones Can Increase Risk for Workers
Roadside work areas, including survey zones, often place workers close to active traffic. These spaces may not always have full barriers or clear separation from moving vehicles, especially on busy roads like state routes.
Drivers passing through these areas may encounter changing traffic patterns, narrow lanes, or workers positioned near turning lanes. Reduced visibility during evening hours can further increase the chance of a crash. Even a moment of distraction can lead to serious consequences in these conditions.
Survey crews often rely on cones, signs, or reflective gear to stay visible. However, their safety still depends heavily on drivers maintaining awareness and adjusting speed. Staying alert and cautious in these areas can help reduce the likelihood of tragic incidents involving roadside workers.
