Newnan, GA (August 13, 2026) – At least one person was injured on Wednesday afternoon, August 12, in a multi-vehicle collision on northbound Interstate 85 near Exit 41. The crash was reported at approximately 4:56 p.m.
The initial alert indicated that several vehicles were involved and that the roadway was blocked near the Exit 41 off-ramp. Drivers in the area likely faced delays while crews worked to clear the roadway. The cause of the collision remains under review.
We hope everyone injured has a speedy recovery.
Why Multi-Vehicle Wrecks Can Cause Major Road Delays
When several vehicles collide, damaged cars may come to rest across multiple lanes or shoulders. Debris, leaking fluids, and towing needs can reduce the amount of roadway available for passing traffic.
Additional impacts can also spread vehicles across a wider section of the highway. This may require temporary lane closures while crews assist patients, remove hazards, and move disabled vehicles.
Traffic volume, vehicle position, roadway width, and the number of cars involved can all influence how long delays continue. Even after injured occupants are assisted, cleanup and towing may keep lanes restricted until the highway is safe for normal travel.
