Alachua County, FL (April 19, 2026) – A 44-year-old man from Fort Myers was killed early Sunday morning, April 19, after being struck by a vehicle while walking along US Hwy 301 just north of the Marion County line.
Emergency units responded to the scene after reports of a pedestrian crash along the highway. Upon arrival, responders located the man who had been struck in the roadway.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. No additional injuries were reported involving the driver of the vehicle. The identity of the victim has not been released at this time pending notification of family members.
