What Causes Roadblocks After Traffic Crashes?
Roadblocks often occur when a crash leaves vehicles or debris in travel lanes. This can make it unsafe for other drivers to pass through the area. In some cases, lanes must be closed entirely to allow crews to work safely.
Emergency response efforts can also require space. Vehicles involved in the crash may need to be stabilized or removed, and injured people may need care at the scene. These steps can temporarily limit access through the intersection or roadway.
Traffic control is another factor. Redirecting vehicles helps prevent further accidents while the scene is active. Once hazards are cleared and it is safe to travel, the road is gradually reopened to normal traffic.
