Rapides Parish, LA (May 30, 2026) – According to Louisiana State Police, a 43-year-old man lost his life after a two-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer near Milburn Grace Road.
The crash happened shortly after 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 28. According to the report, Jerome Warren was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Impala eastbound when the vehicle left the right side of the roadway for reasons still under review. Investigators said he then overcorrected, causing the car to cross into the westbound lane.
The Impala’s right side struck a 2021 Western Star tractor-trailer traveling west. After the impact, both vehicles left the roadway and entered a tree line. Warren, who was not wearing a seatbelt, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver was wearing a seatbelt and was not hurt. We extend our sincere condolences to the loved ones of Jerome Warren.
Why Overcorrection Crashes on Rural Roads Can Be Severe
Single-vehicle departures followed by overcorrection can quickly turn into head-on or crossover crashes on rural highways. When a driver leaves the roadway, sudden steering adjustments may cause the vehicle to lose stability and cross into oncoming traffic.
Rural roads often lack wide shoulders or physical barriers, increasing the chance that a vehicle re-enters traffic at an unsafe angle. At higher speeds, even small steering inputs can lead to major directional shifts.
Collisions involving large trucks can be especially severe due to size and weight differences. Investigators typically examine roadway marks, vehicle positions, and environmental conditions to understand how the sequence of movement unfolded before the crash.
