Why Rollover Crashes Involving Young Drivers Can Be Especially Severe
Rollover crashes can be particularly dangerous due to the multiple impacts a vehicle may experience as it overturns. Passengers can be thrown against interior surfaces or ejected if they are not properly restrained.
Teen drivers may face increased crash risk due to inexperience with speed control, steering response, and emergency maneuvers. Vehicles traveling at higher speeds or making sudden directional changes are more likely to roll, especially in urban corridors with frequent intersections. Passenger ejection significantly increases the risk of serious injury, making seat belt use one of the most important safety factors in preventing severe outcomes. After such incidents, investigators typically review vehicle speed, road conditions, and driver control leading up to the crash.
